There was once a time when daily soaps were being force fed into Indian households. There wasn’t much of a choice. Cut to today, when the age of internet throws at us more content every day than we could consume in a lifetime. It can often be hard work to glean gems from all this. And that’s where we come to the rescue. So, here are some of the best Indian web series to watch (read binge watch).

- Permanent Roommates
India’s first and apparently most loved web series; it deals with a long-distance couple meeting after three years and their real, relatable issues.

Road trips make us think Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara or Dil Chahta Hai. This series brings in a twist by forcing three siblings to go on one and learn life lessons along the way. It’s hilarious with a heart.
- Official Chukiyagiri
Sometimes you might feel this one goes over the top, but if you’ve migrated to a metro for the sake of a job, you will relate to most of the protagonist’s struggles. A good-looking cast and earnest performances make this work.
- Bang Baaja Baraat
The concept of a perfect marriage is turned on its head in this series when a couple decides to marry, making the modern world meet with the Indian traditional world. What they learn as they go ahead with this decision makes for some important life lessons and tons of laughs.

With an ensemble cast entirely of stand-up comedians, the humor and comic timing in this show are never an issue. It shows us the inner workings of an NGO run by a pure hearted man who lacks worldly wisdom.
- Man’s world
Created by the youth arm of YRF, YFilms brings in a series packed with Bollywood performances and good writing. While it can sometimes feel burdening, the premise of a world with gender-role-reversal is very well portrayed.
Vikram Bhatt helms this series of a woman coming to terms with her sexual tastes against the backdrop of a hypocritical society and corporate cunning.
- Girl in the City
Honestly, this one’s just because of Mithila Palkar. A bubbly girl comes to Mumbai to fulfill her dream of working in the fashion industry. Yes, we’ve seen this before. But, I have already given you reason enough in the first sentence.
- Love Shots
If you’re the hopeless romantic type, these series of short stories will touch your heart and turn it to mush. The beautiful music with each individual story adds to its appeal.
Not the most linear series out there, the TVF Bachelors is a string of episodes parodying popular movies. This happens while fitting it in the daily struggles of a group of bachelors. An entertaining concept executed to perfection.
